Having a website is always great for small businesses. But website mistakes can hurt your investments and make you lose potential customers. After being a web designer for a while I learned a lot about website mistakes you need to avoid, so here’s the list:
From my experience, this one is the most dangerous mistake that makes the worse impact on your website. Along with not having CTA at all. By clear CTA I mean it should be readable, visible and have a short simple text line. Like Let’s start, Inquire, Book now, and Contact us. Whatever you want from your visitors, whether to buy your products or sign up for a newsletter – you need to direct and ask them. Tip: I suggest having one CTA button on the first hero screen and one at the bottom of the page, and one in the menu header.
I highly recommend having a contact page with a contact form on your website, if you have a service-based office or shop make sure to also add a location. Customers who come to your website might want to know how to connect with you and ask some questions and you should be able to get in touch with them to make all of their worries clear. And for the contact form: No need to have a thousand fields, the less is better actually. People are too lazy to fill everything usually. Keep only important ones like name, email and message.
That mistake is one of the tops that I saw as a web designer. A long paragraph is a supper good for your blog, but on a website, people don’t like to read and skip most of it. Visitors who can’t understand what your site is about within a few seconds of arriving on your site will leave. Keep the message as simple as possible. Tip: if you want to have more text, please divide text blocks with space, and make it readable.
According to studies the average user will take half a second to make up their mind on certain aspects of the website. Therefore, you must make a good first impression. The use of images, background theme, and content layout must be in line with the expectations of your average user! + Along with desktop design don’t forget to optimize website design for mobile users.
This mistake is even made by top design agencies. Unfortunately, we still live in a lagging internet era, so it is a must to optimize all images, videos and other content we put on websites. If we’re going to talk about preloaders they have pros and cons, but most visitors could just leave cause we are all busy and don’t want to wait, right? ? According to Google, 53% of mobile site visits leave a page that takes longer than three seconds to load.
Making those mistakes can lose your potential clients, but no worry. Please don’t forget that all of that mistakes can be easily fixed. And if you have web design problems I considering hiring a website designer. Improving your website can generate more leads for your business. Your website is the perfect place to showcase your industry authority so I hope you will avoid these mistakes and grow your business better.
