How to customize your Showit website template

Today we’re going to talk about only the design part. With Showit, you can create a website that looks and feels custom-made, without needing to be a professional designer. In the video below I show the process of how to customize the Showit website template to match your brand aesthetic.

Where is to start?

• Step 1: You need to prepare all the brand assets including fonts, logo, branding photos, favicon, copy which mean text and content to put on your website.
• Step 2: Upload fonts and Photos in your media folders.
• Step 3: Replace fonts and colors to matching your brand guidelines
• Step 4: Set up headings, paragraph and subheading with the new fonts you uploaded

Now when everything is set up. Swap photos with the one you uploaded. Input new text and copy. Adjust or delete any element you want. In the video tutorial, you can see how I deleted elements that I had in the template and added new lines, decorative star icon and new arrow icons. For some photos, I decided to make bigger, adjusted image corners from round to square one. Added video background for CTA section. Also, you can add canvases from other pages which is a cool feature in my opinion.

Don’t forget about the mobile version as well, especially editing all canvases that don’t look perfect. Set up new design settings where it wasn’t updated.

Just be creative, Showit is really like an art canvas. In the template that I created layout and structure were designed in the best traditions for a better user experience so I recommend keeping the overall structure the similar to original one.

What to do after everything is designed?

Although that’s a topic for a new video, but shortly make sure you integrated all social media, marketing and other widgets that you need. (Like I personally have flodesk for marketing and typeform for applications). Later go to site settings, to set up the domain (and WordPress blog) you need just contact Showit support. These guys are super friendly and will instruct you on how to set up your domain. That’s actually easy than it sounds.

After the domain will be connected you also need a contact Showit support so they can add an SSL certificate to your Showit site.

Before launching I had a checklist here of 10 Things to do before launching. Just check that everything looks perfect including desktop and mobile, all links work, all buttons work well and you’re good to go! Publish and enjoy your new site.
